Giving Back

I wanted to continue one of my inspirations behind A Cut Above Handcrafted Décor – giving. It’s a tradition I started when my daughter was younger, thus it was important for me to incorporate it into my business plan.

My father is a Marine who served in Vietnam. “Red,” as he’s called by those who knew him in the service, has been a huge influence and role model for me and my daughter, Megan. Since his retirement, Red is a member of the Marine Corps League raising money for disabled veterans (and any veteran that needs help), those on active duty, the local Boy Scouts, Toys for Tots, and less fortunate children. Additionally, he stops to shake the hand of any individual in the military, active or veteran. He thanks each one for his/her service for our country and our freedom.

As a result of his time in Vietnam, Red has experienced many side effects from Agent Orange, but that doesn’t stop his efforts. He is proud to have served our country and has said, if given the opportunity, he would go back to active duty. He touches so many lives with his acts of kindness and integrity, yet expects nothing in return. Therefore, when considering which organization to donate a portion of my sales, the decision was easy. With great honor, A Cut Above Handcrafted Décor will donate 5% of each sale to the Marine Corps League Association, Detachment 1005.
